Community Life...
When business plans include relocating employees or recruiting new personnel, lifestyle issues become major issues. Lumpkin County offers a quality of life that makes setting up house here as appealing as setting up shop. We are at once quaint and progressive, casual and upscale, relaxing and exciting.
Enjoy history and cultural arts.
Lumpkin’s county seat of Dahlonega has a rich history as the site of the first U.S. gold rush in the late 1820s. In fact, it is Dahlonega’s gold that covers the dome of the Georgia State Capital in Atlanta. Dahlonega is recognized as a model community for historic preservation. The historic Public Square, where 19th century buildings house unique shops and galleries, restaurants and entertainment spots, remains a bustling center of commerce. Live theatre, concerts, literary programs, art shows and festivals around the square and on the adjacent campus of North Georgia College & State University, are regular features on the community calendar.
Have fun outdoors.
With almost a third of its land in the Chattahoochee National Forest, and with the southernmost tip of the Appalachian Trail wandering along its ridges, Lumpkin County offers residents a chance to enjoy beauty and adventure in their own back yard—every day.
